NOTE: This tree is a "work in progress". Many of the notes are incomplete and some links will not work correctly, especially when inside a Scrapbook. I still have much data to add and apologise to those contributors whose information has not yet been added. My sincere thanks to all.I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist or conflict with other sources. Individuals with uncertain details have a (See Notes) label attached to their name.
Any photos will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. These allow only a limited amount of text so I will be adding feature pages containing more detailed notes, photos and links. These will appear at the right of the Scrapbook links. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You can use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically excluded, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Notes from Frances O'Brien:
Robert Ewing Brown and Amelia Elizabeth Welsman were married by Rev. Christopher Gadsden, who at that time was rector of St.Phillip's Episcopal Church of Charlestown, S.C. He was afterwards Bishop of S.C.The Robert E. Brown's lived on the Battery, in close proximity of the homes of her parents, the James Welsmans and his parents, the Robert Browns. They had four children. The youngest , Edward Theodore, died as an infant. Their mother, Amelia Elizabeth, died soon after his birth. After her death, the children were raised at their maternal grandparent's home-the James Welsmans.
Robert Ewing Brown was visiting his son, James Welsman Brown at "Magnolia Bluff" when he died (of kidney trouble) on July 4, 1869. He was at first buried in a graveyard nearby, but his body was taken to Charleston the next winter and buried in the Unitarian Church graveyard, Archdale Street.

Died Unmarried.
Amelia kept a good record of her family history, which has been passed down to her descendants. Her notes are accompanied with a copy of her brother James Welsman Brown's diary, 1865 and papers, 1832-1912, and original small portraits of both James & Amelia. They also include a pearl necklace belonging to Amelia.
Her notes are also said to include information about the Graham family, which could verify some of the information about them on this website.
