This tree focuses on John Fripp and his descendants who settled on and around Fripp Island & Beaufort in South Carolina, USA about 1690. Many myths have been written about this colourful character often referred to as Johannes Fripp. Legends say he was a privateer who was granted a strip of land on St. Helena Island, South Carolina by King Charles II, for his help in fighting the Spanish. No official record has ever been found mentioning this grant or the name Johannes. John Fripp arrived in South Carolina 1670 - 90 with his son John.
