NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle. This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.
I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.
If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Notes about Poole Street.
The premises from 1 - 17 Poole Street, adjacent to William's coffee shop at 19, have seen some interesting changes. In 1901 the site became Poole Street power station, on the banks of the Grand Union Canal between Islington and Hoxton. It was originally intended to power Finsbury Park and Moorgate Underground, but was closed in 1914, and converted five years later into the Gainsborough Film Studio, producing classic pictures such as "The Wicked Lady" and "The Lady Vanishes". Alfred Hitchcock started his career here, making his directorial debut with "The Pleasure Garden" in 1925.
This was also where Gerry (Thunderbirds) Anderson started his career, in 1946, as assistant editor, but the studios closed in 1949 and he moved to Pinewood. The dilapidated site was later used, in 2000, by the Almeida Theatre, for their productions of Richard II and Corialanus, starring Ralph Fiennes. It was also used as a venue for fashion shows by Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan.
The site has now been developed into luxury waterside apartments and penthouses. Website: www.gainsboroughstudios.co.uk and features a large sculpture of Hitchcock. Before it's recent developement, a 360 degree panorama of the site was captured in 1999 and can be viewed here
