NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Notes

Caleb Grimshaw

Probably moved to Leighton Buzzard area and married Hannah Perrott (or Parrott), although not yet proven, we know he came from Bossall.

Caleb & Hannah appear to have had 3 children, the last being Caleb who was born at Hockliffe (near Leighton Buzzard) in 1797. Also at St Nicholas church, Hockliffe on 14 Sep 1798 was the burial of a Caleb Grimshaw. At present, it is uncertain if this was the child or the father, but was most likely the child.

Caleb (husband of Hannah) appears to have been buried at St Mary Magdalen churchyard, Little Brickhill, Buckinghamshire on 13 Nov 1816, aged 54. The age is correct for Caleb of Bossall and Little Brickhill is only 5 miles from Hockcliffe.

Caleb's 1st wife, Hannah, probably died in 1798, and he married again in 1801 at Hockliffe. They may have had a son, Caleb, about 1805 at Hertscliffe? see 1851 census.

Another Caleb Grimshaw was buried at nearby Aspley Guise (St Botolph) on 15 Sep 1831, aged 5 months.

William Grimshaw

It is possible that William was a son of John Grimshaw & Hannah Fieldhouse, who was born abt 1764 and died 5 Sep 1829. This is shown on the Grimshaw tree at http://www.grimshaworigin.org/WebPages/EdwdDory.htm

HOWEVER ... The chart above shows William married to Ann Grainger, who died in 1805. It shows the children of William & Ann as:
Jonathan Grimshaw (20 Jul 1784 - ) m. Sarah Pickersgill
Hannah Grimshaw (8 Apr 1786 - ) m. Joseph Marshall
John Grimshaw (1789 - )
Samuel Grimshaw (1796 - )
Abraham Grimshaw (2 Nov 1797 - 1 May 1874) m. Mercy Halliday (4 Jun 1809 - 15 Dec 1877)
Ruth Grimshaw (1799 - )
Ruth Grimshaw (3 Mar 1802 - ) m. Joseph Clapham
Benjamin Grimshaw (30 Oct 1803 - ) m. Nanny Roundhill
Mary Grimshaw (18 Jun 1805 - )
Ann Grimshaw (12 Sep 1809 - )
It then shows William married a Sarah and had the following children:
Moses Grimshaw (12 Mar 1807 - 1868)
Mary Grimshaw
Ann Grimshaw

It seems more likely that most of the children above were born to William & Isabella The LDS shows the following children to William & Babella / Isabella, at Buckstone Baptist, Rawdon:
Benjamin - born 30 Oct 1803 (before the death of Ann Grainger)
Mary - born 18 Jun 1805
Isaac - born 16 Feb 1811
George - born 9 Oct 1813
William - born 13 Mar 1816

If Ann Grainger died in 1805 and then William married a Sarah, it seems quite certain that the William who married Isabella North is a different person. I have therefore treated these Williams as two separate individuals until evidence proves otherwise. Another pedigree file on LDS shows Jonathan (above) as a son of Jonathan & Theodosia. These conflicts are under investigation.

It is also possible that this William was apprenticed to a Robert Walker. Information from Richard Walker shows his 5th great grandfather was one Robert Walker (1717-1785) of Gildersome MM. He was a "master clothier" and in the minutes of Brighouse MM it is recorded for 30 Jul 1779 that York Quarterly meeting provided £2-0-0 from the William & Ann Ellis legacy for a William Grimshaw to be apprenticed to Robert Walker. As apprenticeships usually started about age 14, William Grimshaw would probably have been born about 1765.

There are presently two other William Grimshaw candidates in this tree, who could have been Robert Walker's apprentice.
