NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Vicar of Little Amwell, Herts. 1864-81. (Reference “Northamptonshire and Rutland Clergy from 1500” (1938-43) by Henry Isham Longden)

David Barclay Bevan became Rector of Burton Latimer in 1843, and immediately made many improvements to the church, which he continued to do throughout his incumbency.

In the middle window of the south aisle of the church hangs a pane of armorial glass that came from the rectory and has connections to the Barclay Bevan family, also in the church is a memorial to two of his sons who died in infancy. Barclay Bevan built a schoolroom on his own land south of the churchyard for holding cottage lectures and a Sunday school. This building was eventually moved to the rectory grounds to make way for an extension to the churchyard and became known as the Orchard Room and was greatly used by the parishioners for various functions for many years.

David Barclay Bevan resigned the living here in 1857 and moved to Hertfordshire.

NOTE: The following entry at National Archives refers to F.B. Bevan as a male. It is also most likely that Louise is actually her mother-in-law, Louise (nee Kendall), second wife of David's father, Sylvanus Bevan. It is also likely that Charles is her brother-in-law, son of Louise & Sylvanus.

The Norfolk Record Office has a Letter, dated 1808, to Louise Bevan of Ridlington. It is from F.B. Bevan, at Walthamstow, Essex, to her mother Mrs (Louise) Bevan of Ridlington Hall referring to Charles' marriage and other family news, his own 'sad expectations', and the beauty of Chingford Church.
She sends verses inspired by an anonymous memorial in the church. June 1808.

Enclosed is a late 19th-century photograph of Louise Bevan's grand-daughter, Annis Isabel Bevan, taken at Bournemouth.

1843-1857 - Rector of Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire
1864-1881 - Vicar of Little Amwell, Hertfordshire

3rd son of David, of Walthamstow, Essex, esq. University College, Oxford. Matriculated 8 Dec 1831 aged 18. Magdelen Hall BA 1836, MA 1838. Deacon 1836. Presented. 1837. Rector of Burton Latimer (and patron) 31 Oct 1843, resigned 1857.

David Bevan

Of Fosbury House, Wiltshire; Trent Park, Enfield, Middlesex; & Belmont, Herts.

Eldest son & heir of Sylvanus Bevan.

Favell Bourke Lee

Only daughter, and only child that left issue, or Robert Cooper Lee Esq., sometimes of the island of Jamaica, and afterwards of Bedford Square, St Pancras, Middlesex.

Robert Cooper Lee Bevan

Of Fosbury House, Wiltshire & Trent Park, Enfield, Middlesex

Eldest son & heir of David Bevan.
