NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle. This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.
I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.
If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

3rd, but eldest surviving son and heir of Timothy Bevan
Sometimes of the island of Jamaica, and afterwards of Bedford Square, St Pancras, Middlesex.
NOTE: The entry at National Archives refers to F.B. Bevan as a male. It is also most likely that Louise is actually her mother-in-law, Louise (nee Kendall), second wife of David's father, Sylvanus Bevan. It is also likely that Charles is her brother-in-law, son of Louise & Sylvanus.
The Norfolk Record Office has a Letter, dated 1808, to Louise Bevan of Ridlington. It is from F.B. (Favell Bourke) Bevan, at Walthamstow, Essex, to her mother Mrs (Louise) Bevan of Ridlington Hall referring to Charles' marriage and other family news, his own 'sad expectations', and the beauty of Chingford Church. She sends verses inspired by an anonymous memorial in the church. June 1808.
Enclosed is a late 19th-century photograph of Louise Bevan's grand-daughter, Annis Isabel Bevan, taken at Bournemouth.

Edwin was born at Claines, Worcestershire, where he lived at the "Red House", later known as "Marl Bank" and purchased by Sir Edward Elgar in 1929. He lived there until his death, 5 years later.
By 1841, Edwin was living in Staffordshire, where he married Anne Cowley in 1852. Three months later, he moved to Canada, where he was a missionary to the Red Indians.
An interesting account of his life and family, including photos, can be found HERE
Details from "Antiquities of the Counties and County Families of Wales" p.622 The book gives further details of Timothy's ancestors from Swansea, whose surname was originally Evans.
Timothy was 4th son of Sylvanus Bevan (1661-1725) of Swansea.
Sylvanus was son of William Bevan (c.1627-1702) of Swansea.
William, a Quaker, was 3rd son of Jenkin Bevan, of Rhosilly, Gower.
Jenkin changed the surname from Evans to Bevan. See above book for further ancestry.
Her father and brother were the first Barclay partners who joined the original Freame founders of what became Barclay's bank.
One of the founders of Barclay's Bank.
David was a Quaker merchant, and son of Robert Barclay the apologist. He first traded as a draper with the West indies and New England. He later became a partner with the Quaker family of Freame, and became one of the founders of Barclays Bank.
The first Barclay to join the Freame bankers was David's son, James, who took a quarter share with Joseph Freame in 1733. The bank was originally founded by Thomas Gould & John Freame at Lombard Street, London in 1690.
John Freame was the father of David Barclay's second wife, and the father of Sarah, who married David's son, James, via his first wife.
For a brief period, the bank was also in partnership with the Bevan family, who David's daughter, Elizabeth, married into.
For a detailed account of the history of Barclay's and the various relationships, see the book "Barclays", by Margaret Ackrill & Leslie Hannah. Exracts at Google Books
