NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Sir Reginald Hardy 2nd Bt.

A stained glass window was placed in the Parish Church of Saint Mary, Dunstall, in memory of Sir Reginald. It is located at the East end of the South Aisle and depicts Sir Reginald as St George slaying the Dragon. George's head is that of Sir Reginald, and at the top are the Arms of Staffordshire County Council, Staffordshire Yeomanry, Eton College, Balliol College Oxford and the Inner Temple, all associated with his lifetime.

In 1876, he married Lucy Marion Gladstone, a niece of Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone. She also has a stained window in the church at Dunstall.

In 1933, the 400th anniversary of St James Church, Barton-under-Needwood, was celebrated by a first performance of the Barton Pageant, compiled by Sir Reginald, and was performed at nearby, Silverhill. A second performance was held at the same venue in 1951.

Frederick Edmeston Freese

The History of St. Etheldreda with St. Clement, Fulham

The Revd. Frederick Edmeston Freese

1917-1928: The First World War
Fr. Freese had spent time as a missionary In Japan, as Vicar of Wittlesey and then Chaplain at Wiesbaden before coming to St Etheldreda's. He came at a difficult time with the Great War drawing to a close. When the war memorial was placed, it contained the names of 113 men who had not returned. Never again would Fulham church-going attain the heights achieved before the war.

Fr Freese devoted much to Improving and beautifying the church. The Bishop of London gave a picture by Benjamin West, Christ Healing the Sick, as a reredos. Some of the changes at this time can be seen from the photographs. Electric light replaced candles and gas.

During his time as Vicar the first Parochial Church Council came into being, following legislation in 1919. The parish church, which had had a branch of the English Church Union since 1900, was one of the congress churches at the great Anglo-Catholic Congresses of 1920, 1923, and 1927.

Fr Freese retired at the end of 1928. He died at his son's in Ireland In 1935, and was buried at Putney Vale.
