NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle. This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.
I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.
If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

ABODES:
1894 ..... Anns Hill, Gosport, Hampshire - (Birth)Ernest worked with his brother, Jack, on the ocean liners. He met Angele during the war in Belgium, where she used to hide him from the Germans.
His great nephew, Brian Stacey, has a book entitled "I Had To Be Wee", the autobiography of 'Wee' Georgie Wood. It is inscribed 'For Ernest. The best shipmate possible! With gratitude, Georgie Wood Queen Elizabeth Eastbound May 1st to 6th 1957'
Wee Georgie was a midget actor who usually played the role of a child. He also wrote a column in "The Stage" theatrical newspaper. He died in 1979, and is mentioned at the end of the song "Dig It" by the Beatles.
Angele's first husband was killed in the first world war. Their son, Leon,? was a policeman in Belgium, who was shot by the Germans in WW2.
Angele used to translate for the English or French during the war and was given a medal for her services by the French. She met her second husband-to-be, Ernest Hibdige, during the war, whilst hiding him from the Germans.
After moving to England, she lived at Derby Road or Loxborough? Road, Southampton. In her latter years, she became bedridden, and was said to be so large that when she fell out of bed she had to be hoisted back in by the fire brigade. Some years later, one of these firemen related the story to his friend, Jack Blood of Salisbury, unaware that Jack was a nephew of her husband, Ernest.
She was known to the family as Aggie, and was said by some to be a bit of a vixen.
