It's possible that William married an Anne James, and that Martin's middle name is after her.
Possible death:
Deaths Dec 1852
Monckton William James Wimborne 5a 2011851 Census: Shapwick, Dorset
William Monckton, Head, Mar, 63, Farm Labourer, b. Wimbourne, Dorset (c.1788)

Sarah Monckton, Daughter-in-law, Mar, 24, b. Spetisbury, Dorset (c.1827)
Mary J. Monckton, Granddaughter, 1, b. Shapwick, Dorset (c.1850)NOTE: Martin was probably Jane's brother and was a witness at her wedding in 1856.
NOTE: Jane's father was originally reported to be William Charles Monckton, Christened 19 Mar 1805 at Whitchurch, son of William & Mary. However, he was still unmarried in 1851, and was an attorney, living in Middlesex. It is extremely unlikely that he was Jane's father.
In 1851, an Ann Monckton, annuitant, was visiting Henry & Lucy Hall in Wimbourne, Dorset. She was born c.1787 at Shapwick, Dorset.
In 1861, an Ann Monckton was visiting George & Jane Forder in Sturminster, Dorset. She was born c.1799 at Spetisbury, Dorset. It is not shown if she was a widow.

An Agriculturist's Death:
After a brief illness of only eight days, the death took place at Calcot Farm, last week, of William Hebdige, at the age of 70 years. The deceased gentleman was a member of an old and respected Botley family, and his boyhood days were spent with his parents at Mark's Farm. He resided for fourteen years in the neighbourhood of Romsey, and then came to farm at Durley, from whence, over thirteen years ago, he took charge of Dr Maybury's farm at Calcot. The funeral took place at the Botley Old Church on Friday, when the deceased gentleman was laid to rest beside his wife, who passed away a year ago. The service was conducted by the Rev. A. Helps Starey, M.A. (Vicar of Curdridge) and the mourners were: Mrs Cave (daughter), Mrs W. Heath (daughter), Mr William Heath (son-in-law), Mr and Mrs Leonard (daughter and son-in-law), Mr Mark Hebdige (brother), Mrs Henry Hebdige (sister-in-law). Details of Mary's baptism (Courtesy of Anita Orman nee Williams), who has a copy:
Mary was Baptised in Barton, Isle of Wight, on 7 Apr 1864, to James and Mary Ann (nee Smith). Her father's name was James Pidgely (Labourer).
Further information: (Courtesy of Robin Henderson nee Harris)
Frank Bayford (Grandson) found a record of Mary Pigley born 20 December 1848, Bartons Village, Whippingham, Isle of Wight, to William Pigley (occupation, chair bottomer) and Sarah, formerly Scorey. She died aged 17, and it was thought that she could have been Mary's mother, and that Mary was then was raised by her parents (Mary's grandparents), William & Sarah. However, Frank has since made contact with David Pedgley, who has done a considerable amount of research on the Pidgley/Pedgleys. He has Mary's sister, Elizabeth's, marriage certificate, which shows their father's name as James and occupation as labourer. Mary's marriage certificate shows her father's name as William and occupation as Seaman. She also told her children that he was a seaman, and that he was lost at sea.
It seems that she had little knowledge of her early childhood. Perhaps she was raised by her father's cousin, William Pidgley, before her mother remarried. Her birthplace is shown as Newport, Isle of Wight on the 1871, 81 & 91 census, but is shown as Beaulieu Rails in 1901.
Mary's death, as reported in a Botley newspaper, February, 1928.Mrs M. Hebdige's Death:
The death took place at Calcot Farm, Curdridge, on Wednesday week, of Mrs Mary Hebdige, wife of Mr William Hebdige, after an illness of only a few week's duration. Mrs Hebdige was 63 years of age. The Hebdige's are a very old Botley family, who resided at Botley Farm many years ago, and as other members of the family are buried at the Old Botley Church, the remains were brought there for internment on Tuesday afternoon. The funeral service, which is the first held in the Old Churchyard since the end of 1916 was conducted by the Rev G. Salway (Rector of Botley). In addition to the family mourners, a number of local friends gathered for the service. The deceased lady has left a grown-up family. The very choice floral tributes laid on the grave were inscribed: To my ever loving wife, from Will; from Doff, Billie and Olive; Janet, Harry and grandchildren; Elsie and Will; all at Durley Halt; Mrs W. Houndsome; Mr Bernard Maybury; E.M. and W.H. Hebdige; Dr Maybury and family; Mabel and George; Dorothea, Mary and Betty; Nell, Arthur and family.

Another parishoner has passed away in Mr. H.C. Hebdige on March 26th. Although in failing health he was at his work as usual on that day. An inquest was held at the Catherine Wheel on the 29th before Mr P.B. Ingoldby, County Coroner, without a jury. Gertrude Edith Hebdige, the wife of the deceased, stated that at 9.40 pm the previous Saturday (26th) the deceased went from the house to the woodhouse to get some wood for the following morning's fire, and about a quarter of an hour later, having not returned, she went to look for him, and found him in a sitting position in the woodhouse dead. She immediately sent for Dr. Alfred Spearman Pern who stated that in his opinion death was due to chronic cystitis and hydronephroses combined. A verdict in accordance with the doctor's evidence was brought in.
He was an engineer at Botley Mill, a building mentioned in the Domesday Book.

From Anita Orman (nee Williams):
On Mary's Marriage Certificate (2 Aug 1873) to Charles Kitcher, she was aged 33 living in East Boldre.Notes from Robin Harris:
Mary married George (should be Charles) Kitcher after her first husband William (James) was lost at sea. She then moved to a farm in the New Forest where she rode horses and had commoners rights of grazing cattle. (See 1881 Census list in Charles' notes). She lived to be quite old and her second husband George (Charles) was an invalid after a riding accident for some time before he died.
Familiy stories suggested that Mary Jane Hebdige's grandmother, Jane Monkton, worked at Beaulieu as a landscape gardener either before or after she was married. According to stories that Robin heard from Mary Jane Hebdige, the Beaulieu family were present at Jane's funeral and possibly paid all the costs. It now seems more likely that it was Mary Jane's other grandmother, Mary Ann Smith, as she lived in Beaulieu from about 1877.
Some of the family lived in the Stockbridge area.
